It's hard to believe that our Alexis Lainie is already 2 years old! She is such a sweet girl who doesn't let her bigger brother and sister boss her around. She absolutely loves her blankie, doggies of most sizes, painting and toddling after Ben and Maaike! Of course she loves her Mommy and Daddy, too!
I'd say in terms of "easiness", she fits right in between Ben and Maaike but is closer to the Ben side. She's a tough little cookie! She enjoys running away from me whenever possible (she looks back with her little smile and takes off), reading lots and lots of books, whining at the beach (she's not a big fan but she does get better every time we go), learning all sorts of new words, having opinions about clothes (she did NOT want the dress I picked out but ran over to her favorite black and polka dot one!), climbing everything (the top of our table has gotten more attention from her than it ever did from Ben and Maaike), and playing with her older sister.... just to name a few! She and Maaike have a very sweet relationship right now. Maaike is extremely patient with Lexi and really enjoys playing with her. After we put them down for bed, they are often gabbing for awhile before they both fall asleep! (This doesn't make me look forward to the freedom she'll have when we move her into a bed!)
Yesterday, when Dave got home from work, we drove the birthday girl up to Emerald Isle to stay at my mom's for the weekend! We arrived to some beautiful cupcakes made by Mom to celebrate her youngest granddaughter!
As you'll see, Lexi was more interested in the raspberries than the cupcakes themselves!
Candles on her head! A headband from Mom's friend Janet's birthday celebrations a few weeks prior!
Maaike was all geared up to help Lexi blow out her candles but Ben beat her to it!
Libby, Emma and baby boy Fuller, due in one month!!!
She insisted on using a fork!
Time for presents! She was excited to get a pillow pet from Libby, Todd and Emma!
Ready to go to sleep!
New bathing suit from Aunt Carol and Uncle Peter!
Skirt from Nana and Poppy that she just had to try on right away!
It was a great May 25th for the Shaw family!
