The second leg of our trip took us to Rhode Island to see Great Grandpa and Grandma as well as Uncle Peter and Aunt Carol who came down from New Hampshire to visit! We had a great visit and enjoyed sharing Ben and Maaike with more of our family!

In usual Ben fashion it didn't take long for him to warm up to unfamiliar faces! He loved chatting Grandpa's ear off every chance he got!
95 and still riding his bike around town! Ben made sure he knew where the brakes were!
Not quite sure what Uncle Peter smelled in the shed but it obviously didn't have the same effect on Grandpa and Ben
We also had the chance to celebrate Ben's third birthday a bit early with everyone! Ben quickly caught on that in order to eat the cupcakes, the fire would have to be extinguished!

I just figured Ben needed a little help with the frosting so I . . . helped him, thats all. I promise.
Ben also liked the idea of opening gifts! He loved his new fishing pole from Uncle Peter and Aunt Carol. He knew right away what it was and wanted to play immediately.
But it was nap time so we compromised. This is how I found him ten minutes later in his Poppy's old room!
Unfortunately no good pictures of Maaike AND Ben with Great Grandpa and Grandma. Ben was having issues at this point and was acting all of three years old. But regardless we had a great visit and were so happy to see family again after too long!
