Ben participated in a kid's triathlon this past weekend! It was quite a morning and so fun to see him in his first race!
This was the scene that first made me tear up.... yup... I was mush.
This is the transition area where the kids change from one event to the other. There were 197 kids from ages 5-13 who participated and it was so neat to see it all in action.
Dave took Ben to get registered and then went to the transition area to set up.
A deep father-son moment!
Ben wasn't appreciative of all the pictures I was trying to take of him.
Lexi, Everleigh and Maaike with some signs. Everleigh's 3 older siblings did the race as well!
Waiting for Ben to start in the pool. It got really hot quickly that morning!
Here he comes! No goggles because they broke while he was waiting :( So he zig zagged his way down the pool but he did really well despite the zig zagging!
Here he comes! Time to get on the bike! One parent could help the kids in the transition area so that was Dave's job.
Off with his bike! He had to bike 2 miles and we just waited and waited... hoping he knew the way and wouldn't get lost!
He made it!
Time to run 1/2 mile! He loves Dave's sweat band so that's why it was part of his running attire!
He's done! He did it!
He was tired!
Great job, Ben!
Our kids with 2 of the Clarkin's (Everleigh's siblings). The youngest one hadn't finished yet. They went in age order and it was really well run and the kids had a blast! Ben (and Maaike too!) wants to do it next year!!!
