On July 4, we headed to Charlotte to celebrate birthdays with Dave's family! We made it to Charlotte by 11 on the 4th to celebrate Grant's 1st birthday with a swim party! We stayed until Saturday and enjoyed extended time with our family.
Maaike is so done with her bubble! She was a fish and loved her new "no bubble necessary" status!
Lexi helping Uncle Todd with the grilling.
Cousins...
The girls were trying to help Grant "walk" but it didn't work too well!
Maaike wanted so badly for Grant to cuddle on her lap but he's a boy on the move!
We attempted to see fireworks on the 4th but were unsuccessful. Todd got us a great spot to see the fireworks (on top of a parking deck in Charlotte) and we waited... and waited... but by almost 10 they hadn't yet started! (It was drizzling a bit and we weren't sure if they'd even have them.) So we left and the fireworks started about 10:20 or so. Thankfully, we saw some fireworks in the distance and the kids were completely satisfied! Maaike was asleep before we left the parking deck and the other 2 weren't so far behind!
Before we got to the hotel, this was the scene in the back of the car!
The next day, we celebrated Mom's 70th! Her birthday is at the end of the month so we took advantage of celebrating while we were all together. We had a photographer come and take family pictures and then had brunch at a nice cafe in Charlotte. Libby had these favors made for all of us!
Key lime pie for dessert!
Candids from the rest of our visit together!
Pink is definitely Uncle Peter's color!
Flower children... Lexi, Emma, Maaike
Cousin love!
Lexi was a fish, too! She loved jumping off the diving board!

Post-Dave splash
There's always time for some dancing! Cindy sent the girls some leotards, which had to be packed for our trip. In Maaike's words, "I never know when I might need a leotard!"
Lexi loved her 4th of July leotard, as she called it!
