OUTSIDE FUN

We had a great weekend outdoors enjoying the beautiful weather! Ben had a soccer game on Saturday and then we spent the rest of the day getting our gardens in order! Daddy and Maaike worked on the vegetable garden. We're going to give it a shot this year.... we'll see how it goes!

Today, we took the kids to the beach for the first time this season! It's really the first time Lexi has been to the beach since she's been more mobile.... We were excited to see how she'd like it! First, she just cuddled with her Daddy... really, I can't blame her. He's so cuddly!

Then she decided to check out the sand stuff! She had a blast! We continuously took shells out of her mouth and she didn't seem to get the memo that shells shouldn't be eaten!

Maaike had a great time! Everything was fun for her... the sand and the water!

Dave and I knew better and weren't going in the water! Ben did say that it was cold but he went in a little bit nonetheless.... the water temp didn't bother Maaike though!

It's a lot of work to come to the beach with kids... packing everything up, schlepping it all to the beach, taking seashell upon seashell out of the little one's mouth, cleaning up the kids as best as we can with freezing cold water, changing in the car, driving home and bathing all the sand off the kids, cleaning out the car... blah, blah, blah....

Anyway, it's a lot of work. But when Ben says on the way home out of the blue, " That was so much fun...", it makes all of it worth it!

(after waking up from her nap after we got home)

Daddy: Maaike, what was your favorite part about the beach?

Maaike: Peeing in the ocean. (Not a moments hesitation to think of her favorite part)

Mommy: Do we pee in swimming pools?

Maaike: Yes...
